Service Expansion with Edison International
September 2000
Calabasas, California – VPA Inc., the largest independently owned
disability and absence administrator, is pleased to announce the expansion of
self-funded disability benefit services provided to Edison International.
Edison, headquartered in Rosemead, California is
the parent corporation of Southern California Edison, one of the nation's
largest electric utilities, Edison Mission Energy, a pre-eminent independent
power producer, Edison Capital, a top provider of infrastructure project
financing and affordable housing financing, and Edison Enterprises, the
umbrella organization that unites Edison International's unregulated retail
companies.
VPA will now be managing Edison's self-insured
long-term disability program in addition to their short-term, and statutory
disability plans for non-union employees. "The expansion of this relationship
reflects VPA's commitment to meeting our client's expectations for an
integrated disability benefit program," said Jack Bredehorn, President and
Founder of VPA. "We understand how difficult it can be for employees who are
disabled and unable to work," said Dr. Heller, Managing Physician, Compensation
& Benefits at Southern California Edison. "To better serve these employees,
we knew we had to find a company that was more than a disability claims
administrator. We needed a progressive company that holds the same corporate
values that we do - namely, reliability, dependability and excellence in
customer service. VPA was the clear choice and we certainly look forward to a
continuing partnership."
VPA, Inc., headquartered in Calabasas,
California, helps employers solve the challenges associated with administering
and managing complex absence and disability programs, including sick leave,
short-term, long-term, and state disability benefit plans. Additionally, VPA
provides sophisticated decision support tools that coordinate medical and
disability management.
