VPA, Inc. announces services expansion with
Edison International
December 2000
Calabasas, California – VPA Inc., the largest independently owned
disability and absence administrator, is pleased to announce the expansion of
disability benefit services provided to Edison International.
Edison, headquartered in Rosemead, California is
the parent corporation of Southern California Edison, one of the nation's
largest electric utilities, Edison Mission Energy, a pre-eminent independent
power producer, Edison Capital, a top provider of infrastructure project
financing and affordable housing financing, and Edison Enterprises, the
umbrella organization that unites Edison International's unregulated retail
companies.
VPA will now be managing Southern California
Edison's self-insured short and long-term disability programs for its employees
covered under collective bargaining agreements, which includes members of the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 47; Utility
Workers Union of America (UWUA), Local 246 and the San Onofre Firefighters
Association (SOFA), Local 246A.
Starting January 1, 2001, VPA will also manage
the short and long-term disability programs for Edison Operations &
Maintenance Services, a new business. "Our partnership began with Southern
California Edison in 1999 when we assumed administration of Edison's
self-insured disability program for most of the company's non-union employees.
The leadership of IBEW, UWUA and SOFA thoroughly reviewed our operations, and
felt VPA would also provide excellent customer service to their members," said
Jack Bredehorn, President and Founder of VPA. "We look forward to continuing to
meet Edison's disability benefit and absence management needs."
VPA, Inc., headquartered in Calabasas,
California, helps employers solve the challenges associated with administering
and managing complex absence and disability programs, including sick leave,
family and medical leave, short-term, long-term, and state disability benefit
plans.
