VPA Inc. adds FMLA Services
Employee Needs Drive Development of Integrated Workers Compensation And
Disability Management Program
April 2001
Calabasas, California – VPA, Inc., the largest independent company
devoted exclusively to prividing management and administration of self-funded
disability plans, announces the addition of Family & Medical leave
administration to their portfolio. The combined product features integration of
leave requests in combination with VPA's award-winning disability management
prossess.
The Family Medical Leave Act mandates that
qualifying companies end up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave and up to 12 months of
ongoing health coverage to employees who experience a medically-related
absence, such as birth, adoption, care of a parent, child or souce, or a
serious illness or accident.
VPA merges the FMLA leave request process with
the intake and administration of short-term disability claims. This
coordination helps to expedite the FMLA application and approval process.
Additionally, VPA provides participating employers with leave activity reports
that enable better forecasting of lost-time projections by showing time used,
time available and expected end of leave data.
VPA's expertise, resources, and state-of-the-art
technologies provide fully tailored administrative solutions that help
employers to maintain focus on their core business objectives. Some of the
advantages include:
-
Compliance with family medical leave commuication requirements. Employees can
use paper, Interactive Voice Response, or web-based applications for FMLA and
disability benefits.
-
Calculation, tracking, and reporting of leave time for all leave episodes.
-
Complete leave and disability benefit utilization and reporting services.
-
24/7 access to key disability claim and leave status information for employees
or their managers
-
Web based access (and soon input) for disability claim and leave status.
The addition of FML administration to our
portfolio comes at a time when employers are beginning to recognize the
complexity of administrating the law and are looking to outsource the
administration of this increasingly complex blend of leave and disability
management requirements.
